The unbearable lightness of Bono and Berlusconi

So the self-proclaimed Messiah of rock has publicly complained to the man who described himself as the Jesus Christ of politics. Apparently Bono of U2 has written a letter to an Italian newspaper after a picture of him featured on the party election literature of Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi. The picture was accompanied by a caption saying something along the lines of "Bono is grateful to the premier for action promoted by the Italian government on behalf of poor countries."
In unprecedented clash of giant egos Bono claims that he has been exploited by Berlusconi for political ends. Kettles and pots, stones in glass houses spring to mind…

Agree with Caroline.

Do like the title to the post DA, "The Unbearable Lightness of Bon-O and Berlucsoni". Well said.

As he once said that he is "not a man of the cloth unless that cloth is leather" Bono may also feel concerned by the fact that the Episcopal Church is using the lyrics of U2 as 'hymns' in order to attract younger worshippers. Perhaps they are singing Sunday Bloody Sunday and imagining a different type of Easter rising??!!

Berlusconi said he's surprised at Bono's words because Berlusconi promised Bono to cancel Third World countries' debt but didn't say when...
It's only a matter of time, so...
Berlusconi describes himself the Jesus Christ of politic because he's a martyr to his cause, because he has only anenmies around him waiting to crucify him.
He also said that he did to history more that Napoleon did.
He also said he's the Lord’s Anointed.
And he also publicly said that whoever don't vote him is a "coglione" , an italian trivial word meaning "testicle"... Don't know how to translate properly in English. If you have a good idea I'd be glad to read it :-)

Anyway Berlusconi lost the lections by a short measure, but he didn't accept the defeat and he's trying everything to stay in power anyway... He's such a disgrace!

Antonion
Grazie per il comentario. Me dispiace, non parlo molto bene italiano, ma devo practicar!

I hope Signor Prodi does a much better job in government on his second attempt.

PS, I think "bollocks" might be the best translation for "coglione".

Ciaran,
you did a great job with your Italian, I think that with some practice you'll really succeed...
Sorry for the typoes in my previous comment, must have been the early hour ;-)
Thanks for the translation! Do you use such a word to directly insult a person? I knew that it's mainly used to mean "bullshit" or similar...
