South Park Chef has had his chips

So Isaac Hayes, famous voice of the chef in South Park has quit the series because they poked fun at his so-called religion Scientology. According to an article by Andrew Gumbel in today’s Independent the particular episode “suggested, in characteristically unsubtle fashion, that the religion was a bogus pile of sci-fi claptrap designed to hoodwink people into forking over their money.” Surely not! For years South Park has been merrily making fun of Christianity, Judaism, Mormonism and even Islam, yet all that time Isaac never batted so much as an eyelid. All very curious methinks.

What’s also curious is that only rich and famous (actor Tom Cruise and voice of Bart Simpson, Nancy Cartwright among others) seem to be Scientologists. How many of their co-religionists live in trailer parks or inner city ghettoes?

Now I’m not one for mocking religion, but can Scientology, a money-making cult based on the ramblings of a science fiction writer seriously be described as a religion?

It’s one law for the rich and one law for chef out of South Park. I wonder if they’ll keep the Chef character going and get a replacement voice. If so, the Dreaming Armadillo would like to nominate Samuel L. Jackson!

Don't suppose you could reconsider your nomination thats the sort of thing I could do. Never Mind. Happy St.Patricks Day.

I know...

It just won't be the same without him. South Park's loss is Scientology's gain. I'm quite happy for them to keep Tom Cruise though.
